StubHub Music app review: find events and watch your favorite stars live

Reviews

Introduction

There’s nothing more frustrating than finding out your favorite band or solo artist is coming to town after the event is already sold out. Sure you can search through websites every so often to see what’s coming to your area, but that’s a time consuming proposition and probably not something you want to do on a regular basis. The StubHub music app is a great app designed to make keeping track of your favorite artists a breeze. This is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

We all have different tastes; the StubHub developers recognized that and created an app that can be tailored to your individual needs. There are other apps that provide concert information but StubHub is like a one-stop shop. Not only does it keep you posted on when your favorite artists are coming to town but it also allows you to purchase tickets without ever having to leave the app, which is very convenient.

You do want to be careful when using this app to purchase tickets as the ticket prices are normally more expensive than they are on Ticketmaster. You might want to consider using the app to keep track of events in your area, but only as a secondary option for purchasing tickets when the primary ticket sellers are sold out.  The other thing I didn’t like about this app was the limitations of its feature for searching my device for artists I like. According to this app there are only four or five artists in my iTunes library when in actual fact there are probably hundreds. You’re better off adding artists manually. The app also has the tendency to crash on occasion. This app will require 22.3 MB of free space on your iOS device.

How it Works

On the main screen of the app you’ll notice two menu bars at the top of the app. The top bar has five options. The first tab opens a list of options including an events calendar, a venues calendar, my artists, my locations, my notifications, and a music scan option. Most of these options are also available on the second menu bar on your main page. This app really is full of features.

Once you’ve added some artists you want to follow you can tap on an artist anytime to view any upcoming events for that artist in your area. If the artist is not coming to your area in the near future, the app will provide you with a list of events elsewhere. Another great feature of this app is the ability to set up notifications for upcoming events. This a great way to make sure you never miss your favorite stars when they’re in your area, which mean no more getting frustrated when you find out about a concert a week too late to get tickets.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Easy to keep track of your favorite artists
  • You can set up notifications for upcoming events
  • Able to purchase tickets using the app

Cons

  • Ticket prices may be more expensive than other sources
  • The feature that scans your device for your favorite artists does not seem to recognize many artists
  • The app crashes on occasion

Final Words

StubHub Music app is a good tool for keeping track of when your favorite artists are coming to town. The app is supposed to be able to search your device for your favorite artists but this feature doesn’t work all that well so you’re better off adding artists manually. If you don’t want to miss an event in your area you should probably give this app a try.
