iCanConduct app review: kids control the experience

Reviews

Introduction

Kids have an undeniable interest in music so why not feed into that interest and turn it into an educational opportunity? That's exactly the stance the iCanConduct app for your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone takes. In this app kids will control the musical experience by choosing what instruments they want to hear or not hear. By experimenting with the different instruments they will start to learn to distinguish the different sounds and get an idea of how the instruments affect the overall sound.

Learn What Creates a Song

The iCanConduct app gives kids a chance to act as the music conductor and put together songs in an engaging way. They will have the opportunity to turn instruments on and off as they please and listen to how it affects the outcome of the song. When all the instruments are on and playing it's hard to listen to individual sounds so giving kids a chance to strip elements away really helps in the learning process. This one has been created for kids ages four and older but there is no reason that younger kids can't enjoy the experience as well, they just may need a little help from an adult.

The best iPhone apps for Disney World

The app is free to use and you are given two free songs to have fun with. These are The Farmer in the Dell and Oh! Susana. There are in-app purchases available that provide you with song packs. These are all priced at $0.99. The app requires iOS 6.0 or later and is a brand new release so there are no updates as of yet. The app does however already have a perfect five star rating from users who have called it fun, great, and cute.

The User Experience

As soon as you launch the iCanConduct app you are taken to the main menu, which is very short and easy to navigate making it perfect for kids. As far as the settings go there isn't much to do here you can enable or disable the in-app purchases, and choose to display the song information on the screen. The song library is where kids will find the songs that are unlocked and available for them to experiment with. Likely kids will grow tired of the two free ones pretty quick so be prepared to purchase additional ones.

When they start the song they will be able to isolate the vocals and the instruments or put it all together. They can pause any time or stop and start over.
