Decorating a new home can be a daunting task and there are a lot of apps in the App Store that were created to give you a helping hand with your design project. House Ideas HD is one such app. It does a credible job but if you’re looking for an app that you can use to test your own ideas on screen that is not what this app is about. This app will simply give you access to what other people have done in their homes that might be of interest to you.

There are a few issues with this app that detract from its overall attractiveness. When you attempt to load one of the samples to take a closer luck it takes a while to load and on occasion it will crash right out of the app ad you’ll have to start from scratch. The other problem I found with this one was that it takes an excessive amount of time to access social media sharing options, to the point that I thought the app had simply frozen. It did eventually load the social media option to choose from but only after a great deal of frustration. You’ll also have to contend with persistent ads in this one as well. There are banner ads at the top and if you don’t interact with the screen within a few seconds you’ll be greeted by a full-page pop-up ad every time.

How it Works

This isn’t a very complicated app. It’s essentially just a picture gallery. There are a lot of pictures to choose from and there are certainly some inspirational design ideas to inspire you here but you can’t modify the pictures in any way. If you’d like to see what the room would look like in yellow you’re out of luck, unless you want to use your own imagination, that is.

The main page of the app is just a group of five different picture galleries: you simply swipe to the left to move on to the next one. There doesn’t appear to be any categories it’s just a random group of pictures in each gallery. There is no doubt that you can find some inspirational ideas in these galleries but having to deal with pop up ads every time you take your finger off the screen is just too much of a distraction.

Final Words

House Design HD has the potential to be a useful app but it’s hindered by a pervasive use of advertisements. You can find some great design ideas here but having to fight with all the ads makes it just not worth the time.
