Fun with Disney Comics

Childhood should be one of the most fun and exciting time periods of our lives and Disney has always positioned themselves at the center of the action. Their products are almost always winners and the Disney Comics Zone app is no exception. This one’s a great deal of fun for every child; with comic books in over 20 different categories there’s bound to be something for just about every taste.

This really is a great app that works well and is easy to use for the kids, but there is one small drawback. While the app is free, most of the comics are not. It does come with three free sample comics but after that you’ll have to purchase coins from the App Store to access the rest of the library for your child. They have built-in security features to prevent your child from racking up a large bill without your knowledge though, which is a comforting feature. Each comic is $2.99 or two coins so you can simply purchase two coins at a time or up to 70 at a time for $39.99 if you like. This app will require 46.3 MB of free space on your iOS device.

How to Read

When you first open the app you will, by default, be in the My Comics section of the app. In this area you’ll see all the comics you’ve already purchased. At first it will only be populated by the three free titles that come with the app. To view all the available titles you simply tap on the Library tab at the top of the page. There are multiple titles in each category with 22 categories in all so there’s lots of choice and new titles are added on a regular basis. The titles will have a lock on them until you purchase them with coins purchased from the App Store; this can be done by tapping on the coins tab in the bottom left corner of the app. Once you purchase a comic it will appear in your My Comics section.

To view a comic you have purchased all you have to do is tap on it to get started. The app then gives you some basic instruction on how to read the comics before you get started which is quite helpful. To turn the pages you simply swipe from right to left and the pages turn quite smoothly. A really cool feature of the app is the ability to zoom in to make the comic easier to view. Once you’re zoomed in you can continue to swipe right to left to read through each section of the page  so you don’t have to worry about awkwardly zooming in an out of each section of the page, the app does it for you. Once again, Disney’s got everything right with this one; the little ones are bound to have a lot of fun with this.
