ephIM app review: completely secure and private chat

Reviews

Introduction

ephIM by AppSwage, LLC is an app that allows you to chat in complete anonymity which has become extremely difficult in today's always-connected world. With this app you don’t have to create a username and your chats are never saved for more than an hour so that you don’t have to worry about something you wrote online coming back to haunt you down the line. It’s a great way to meet new people and still feel totally comfortable at the same time. If you normally avoid saying what’s on your mind because you’re worried about the consequences, ephIM may be just the app you’re looking for. This is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Chat In Complete Privacy

Online social networking is probably the most popular online activity right across the globe. We are after all social animals, and we love to know what’s going on in the world around us. The problem with the biggest social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram is that everything you say on them becomes part of the public domain: there will always be a record of it out in the world. If you’re not careful with what you say you may find yourself in an embarrassing situation. ephIM on the other hand is totally anonymous and your conversations are always deleted within the hour.

ephIM app includes a great little help section that provides you with all the information you’ll need to get started with using the app. There’s also a video tutorial if you’d like to see how it works before you jump in. Unfortunately there are banner ads at the bottom of the page, but they don’t interfere with using the app in any way. Probably the biggest problem with this app is that there simply aren’t a lot of users. When I used this app for the first time there was only one open channel to choose from which was disappointing. ephIM app will require 5.8 MB of available space on your iOS device.

The Essentials

The first time you use the ephIM app you’ll be asked whether or not you want to allow the app to send silent notifications before you can start chatting. This apparently can speed up the operation of the app and save battery life. After that you can get started with your first chat. This really is completely anonymous, you do create a user name when you join a chat channel, but it can be whatever you like and it only applies to that channel. If you join seven different channels for example, you could conceivably have seven different user names.

Joining an available chat is simple you simply tap on the channel and start typing your message. The available channels are listed on the left hand side and the main chat window is on the right. You can also create your own channels if you like. This has all of the features you’re used to in other social networking apps, you can favorite a message or like it, and you can add pictures or videos as well. If it wasn’t for the limited number of available channels this app would be easy to recommend.

Final Words

If you love to chat, but you don’t want to worry about saying the wrong thing without it coming back to haunt you, ephIM may be just the app you’re looking for. This app allows you to chat in complete anonymity and it destroys your messages after an hour. If there were more channels to choose from, this would be an excellent app.
