If you want to share precious moments with your children in a familiar social media type setting without having to worry about what else your kids might be accessing, soulsend by Soulsend LLC is an app you may want to seriously consider. This app provides a forum where you can save all those personal moments and easily share them with family members without having to worry about all the unwanted visitors you might worry about with traditional social media options. It’s a great way to introduce young children to social media without all the traditional headaches. The soulsend is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
Facebook and Twitter are great tools that have undoubtedly changed the way we live our lives and most of us can’t imagine living without them but they do come with some baggage. If you’re children have a social media account you can never be quite sure what kind of characters they might be in contact with. These apps do include tools to help you block access from unwanted individuals, but you’ll have to monitor your kid’s accounts closely to make sure this is being done. With soulsend you don’t have to worry about all that because this app is designed to be used as a private social application among family members.
The soulsend is an app with some good things going for it. There are no ads or in-app purchases to worry about which is great if you’re sharing this app with your kids – you don’t have to worry about what they might access accidently while using the app. It has also got a nice simple interface that’s easy to use for you or the kids. What I didn’t like about the app was the lack of any sharing options. The app suggests that you can invite other family members to join you in sharing and viewing special moments, but it doesn’t really explain how you go about this. You can add family or friends to your profile, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to share information between different profiles. This app will require 21 MB of available space on your iOS device.
Getting set up with soulsend is a simple process – you just enter your name, email address, add a photo, and create a password and you’re off and running. You can make changes to your profile at any time form the main menu in the top left corner. Once you’re profiles create the app will prompt you to add any family members you’d like to include. If you add a family member make sure you include their email address if you want to be able to share the moments with them.
Creating a moment you can share is simple. You just tap on the symbol in the top right corner, ad a photo, name the moment, select what date the moment took place on, and indicate who you want to share the moment with. Presumably an update will be sent to their email, but this is never confirmed and they don’t mention it in the help section. All of the moments you’ve created will be visible in your own personal feed so that you can access and modify them whenever you like.
Provides a private social networking tool for families
Simple set up
No ads or in-app purchases
Instructions don’t explain how or if you can share moments with family members
If you want to create private moments that you can share with the family members of your choosing then soulsend is a great option. It’s a simple to use app with a lot of potential, although they could do a better job of explaining how you go about sharing moments among family members. This app needs a little work but it has a lot of potential.
