Science Game - Electromagnetism app review: a fun science game for kids

Science Game – Electromagnetism by Sridhar Sundaram is a fun and informative app designed to help kids learn all about science. It features tons of different activities that parents can do with their children, so if you’ve ever had to try and explain how magnets work to your children and felt a little unsure of your expertise on the subject Science Game – Electromagnetism may be just the answer you’ve been looking for. Science doesn’t need to be complicated if it’s explained well and this app does a great job simplifying things for your child. This is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

Science Made Easy

It’s always a challenge trying to create an educational app that kids actually find fun and that they can learn from as well. The App Store is full of confusing apps supposedly designed to educate children, but so poorly designed even adults have a difficult time figuring out what they’re about. Science Game – Electromagnetism succeeds where other educational apps fail. This game features fun graphics, helpful tips and hints throughout, and it also let’s your kids immerse themselves in the app by interacting with other users.

The best iPad apps for cartoon lovers

The major drawback of this app is that only one of the nine sections is unlocked in the free version – the rest of the sections are only available if you unlock them with an in-app purchase of $9.99. This may seem a little steep, but it is a one-time fee to unlock a lot of great content for your kids. It’s probably best to let your kids try out the free section first to see how it works for them, chances are they won’t be disappointed. Science Game – Electromagnetism has a great user interface which the kids in my house really enjoyed. This app will require 58.6 MB of available space on your iOS device.

How it Works

The first time your child uses the app they’ll be prompted to enter their name and choose an avatar – this will become their online identity in the app. After that it’s a matter of choosing the area of science they want to learn about by tapping on the section they want to explore. Each section begins with a quick overview of how everything works. Your child can earn badges for different achievements as well as points which they can use when they feel they’re ready to challenge another user in an online quiz. They have to accumulate at least 500 points before they can challenge another user to a one on one challenge. The ability to interact with other users really makes this one a lot of fun for the kids.

The best iPad apps for learning how to read

If your child isn’t sure about the objective of a section they can tap on the preview button at any time which opens up a virtual text book with a nice summary of what the section is about.  There’s also a lightbulb icon at the top of each page as well which will also take them to some helpful tips and hints, as well as allowing them to modify their profile. The developers of this app have gone to every effort to make it easy for your children to get the answers they need to make using the app fun.
