Blast app review: a GPS running tracker and workout community all rolled up in one 2021

Reviews

Introduction

Getting in shape is not easy – in fact it's a heck of a lot easier to get out of shape than to get back into shape. Fortunately there a lot of great tools in the App Store that can help you on your way.

The best iPhone apps for running

One of these is Blast a GPS, which is a good fitness app and workout community by Codoon.com. There's no shortage of competition in the health and fitness app category, but what helps to set Blast apart is that it's not just a pedometer, or calorie tracker, it's a complete workout community.

Let's dive deeper into the features of this iPhone app for fitness. Check out our Blast app review below for more details about these features.

Get Moving with Blast

There are so many fitness apps available in the app store it's hard to keep track of them all, so when you come across a good one it's often more of a crapshoot than anything else.

The best driving apps for iPhone

We're all familiar with Nike+, and Fitbit, but Blast is an app you should definitely consider in the same category as these more well-known apps. It's not overly flashy, but it does provide you with the basic tools you need to succeed. That's all you really need in a fitness app.

This app has a lot of great things going for it, but it does have a couple of problems. One of the biggest issues I had with this app is that you have to either sign up by providing your cell phone number, or by using your Facebook account.

While this may not be unusual for apps these days, it always seems to me to be a little intrusive. You have to wonder why you need to provide a cell phone number or your Facebook account to use a fitness app.

There's nothing wrong with providing the option of sharing your achievements through Facebook, but that should always be your choice. It shouldn't be a requirement of the app. This app does have a very nice user interface that's clean and easy to follow.

The green on white color scheme is pleasing to the eyes, and the numbers are displayed in nice big numerals making it easy to read for anyone.

As an added bonus this app will also work if you're not in Wi-Fi range, or if you're out of data. So you can always track your activities no matter where you are. This app will require 21.3 MB of available space on your IOS device.

How It Works

As mentioned above, you have to start by signing up with the app using either your cell phone to obtain a verification code, or by logging on with your Facebook account.

Best iphone and ipad apps

There is an option to try out the app before you sign on with one of these methods, but it only allows you limited functionality of the app. If you're serious about using this app, it's best to sign up for an account.

To get started using the app to track your running activity, you just tap on the icon at the bottom of the screen that looks like a person running.

When you tap on this icon you'll automatically open an activity screen which tracks the kilometers you've traveled, the duration of time of your activity, and the average pace that you've been running at.

When you're finished your activity you can just slide up from the bottom of the screen which will log your activity and you can either tap on the green icon to the left to continue running, or the red icon to the right if you're done with your activity and you want to log it.

If you want to partake in the Blast community you can simply tap on the Blast icon at the bottom right of the screen. This will activate a social media stream where others have posted pictures of their own activities.

You can comment on them, you can like them, and you can also add these people as friends if you like. It's a nice bonus to have that built-in social media function to help keep you motivated on your road to health and wellness.
