Nightstir app review: an app to bring your nightlife to life

Reviews

Introduction

The great thing about social media is that it has allowed us to easily connect with friends and family and in many cases to use it as a vehicle for bringing people together. There’s no doubt you can use Facebook or text messaging to have general discussions with your friends about what’s going on for the evening. These methods can do the job, but they leave a lot to be desired. Sometimes, it's hard to quickly organize a night out when everyone’s texting back and forth or jumping on somebody’s Facebook post.

10 free apps worth checking out 2021

Nightstir is an app that gives you another alternative – it lets you create a group with your closest friends and quickly share ideas about where to go, when to go, and in some cases when to stay home. Nightstir is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Nightstir is a unique app that doesn’t have a lot of competition in the App Store. As we’ve mentioned above, you can use apps like Facebook for organizing your nightlife, but they’re not designed for that specifically which makes them awkward at best. What makes Nightstir special is that they provide you specific tools designed to quickly post ideas for a night out and what your availability is for that night.

The best iPhone apps for nightlife

The biggest problem I had with this app was its functionality on the iPad. Although they claim that the app is compatible with the iPhone or iPad, I tried to use it on my iPad and the interface was too large for the screen which resulted in everything being cut off. Needless to say, this was a little discouraging. They do include a good overview of the app which is a positive thing, but it’s not much use if you can’t see what you’re doing. I did have a lot more success on my iPhone, which is probably the best option for using this app. The Nightstir - A Nightlife Communication app will require 5.2 MB of available space on your iOS device.

How It Works

Before you start using this app, it’s probably a good idea to try and get a few friends to use it as well. Otherwise, the app is not much use to you. If you can convince your friends to try it as well then the app definitely has a lot of potential. After creating your username, and working your way through the initial walk-through of the app, you will find that this app is straightforward to use. Essentially there are six different statuses you can choose from: Staying in, Pre-Gaming, Going out, Open to Suggestions, or After-Hours. Each category gives you a hint of what it's about.

Once you’ve chosen your status, any of your friends using the app will get updates indicating where you’re at for the night. Say for example, you’ve chosen the Open to Suggestions status -  any of your friends, who see this status can simply swipe on your status and quickly send you a message or make suggestions. It really is impressive how quickly you can send a message back and forth between friends using this app. The screen is nicely organized based upon the different statuses, making it very simple to see what’s going on in your circle.
