KWAMBIO app review: design the items you want

Reviews

Introduction

Have you ever noticed that when celebrities wear a piece of jewelry or clothing it's always unique and sometimes even designed by them or by their significant other? It's all very glamorous and posh but what if you could do the same and create your own custom designs? The KWAMBIO app for your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone allows you to become the designer giving you the ability to create objects and really get in on the whole process. Additionally through the app, you'll have access to items from some of the most well-known and loved designers out there that you can purchase yourself.

It’s more than just clothing and jewelry you can design within the app, you can create items for the home as well that will leave all your friends in awe. The process uses photorealistic 3D visualization in real-time, which may sound incredibly technical but you will quickly find out its quite user-friendly. In fact, there’s a good chance you’ll become rather addicted to creating unique pieces. You may not be able to buy “off the rack” again!

Sharing Technology with the Masses

At its heart, this is a shopping-based app but it's important to recognize it for more than just that.

The KWAMBIO app is the first app to bring real-time photorealistic 3d visualization and design tools to your fingertips,” says the developer KWAMBIO INC.

It’s really quite an exciting offering that is not only fresh and fun, but just packed with impressive features and tools that people haven’t had the opportunity to use on a regular basis. It takes the way you look at the design process and really shakes it up and modernizes it.

"Order unique designer commissions, print on-demand in ceramic or metal, and track the order from production to your doorstep," explains the developer.“Imagine being able to easily commission your own custom product from today’s best designers and artists — KWAMBIO makes this magic happen.”

This process is made possible by the developers teaming up with experienced and even new designers who offer art, accessories, and homeware and are interested in opening up the design process. Thanks to this app you'll be able to enjoy one-of-a-kind items, something that is really quite hard to find nowadays. Design students are loving it, artists, those with a creative flair, and anyone who is looking for something out of the ordinary.

Customers can expect not only the ability to create designs, but also enjoy high quality materials and items.

"We product heirloom objects with the newest technologies - building personal relationships with factories to ensure it."

The Design Process

The KWAMBIO app comes across as a really exciting one, as it provides a service that is new and refreshing. Who doesn’t love showing off a one-of-a-kind piece, never mind the fact they get to say they were involved in the design process. There is a real pride behind it that hits you the moment you finish your project.

When you launch the app, you’ve got the option of logging in through your Facebook account or you can register and create an account with the app. After signing in, you’ll be taken to the main page where you can start to browse. You can search by keyword or just take a look at random items. At any time you can manage your account, wishlist, and view your orders. The app advertises across the top of the screen that shipping is always free, a nice little added bonus.

The app walks you through the process allowing you to pick things such as material and sizing where applicable. What would be nice is to see even more selection here as the concept is a fabulous one and the pricing is reasonable considering it’s all personalized.

Additional features include being able to browse by category, make your changes and customizations in real-time so you can decide if it's what you want. The app also has an impressive support team that is able to answer questions 24/7 so you're never left wondering if you should go ahead with your order, or how to create the order in the first place.

The user interface has a modern and contemporary look to it, which allows the items to be the star. I think this also helps in the design process as there is nothing on the screen that is distracting in the process. All of these items are made on demand since they are customized, which also means there is nothing mass-produced. Just think how many times you’ve been visiting a friend’s place only to notice that the vase they have on their coffee table is the exact same one you’ve seen in a few other friends’ homes. This is the chance to let your personality shine.

If you're interested in learning more about the designers you can do so on the KWAMBIO website. As well, all pictures/designs can be shared with friends and family on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and Instagram.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The app is incredibly user-friendly
  • Users get to play a hand in creating designer items
  • Each piece is made-to-order so they are all unique
  • Your customizations are shown in real-time
  • Share items with friends and family on social networks
  • Shipping is free

Cons

  • While you can make customizations to the items, it’s not quite as versatile as some customers would like to see

The Final Verdict

The KWAMBIO app for your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone is a unique approach to design items. While the base model is made by new and experienced designers, it’s the customer that gets to make those finishing touches, which is fun and rewarding. My only real complaint is that the catalog of items is still on the smaller side. I would love to see more items and I'm sure the developers are working on expanding, which will make this app even more wonderful.
