Forget Training Dragons, Try Farming Them In 'DragonVale'
DragonVale is centered on building your own dragon themed island. Using in game transactions will add to the island building experience of buying dragon eggs, habitats and buildings to make the best dragon park. While the game doesn’t make any ground breaking innovations for its genre, it’s still worth looking into if you’re willing to invest a bit of cash.
As a freemium app,
DragonVale starts off with a base level of content to get your dragon farm going. Starting with a nursery you purchase a dragon egg, build a habitat and place the hatchling in its new home. For each dragon, a set of background information and money over time ratio is provided. The more dragons you have and the older they become, the more people will visit the island.
A treat farm is provided to level up dragons by growing edible plants yourself or buying them in the market in the treasure option. Also available in the market are decorations and islands allowing you to landscape your farm and expand it to several islands. Leveling up will unlock items in eggs, habitats and buildings within the market.
After finishing the brief game tutorial micro-transactions take the forefront of the in game experience. Many of the more exotic dragon eggs are purchasable through gems instead of coins. While leveling up gains more gems, the faster way is the treasure option in the market to purchase gem bundles for a little cash. Or make your own dragons by building a breeding cave and mating two dragons to see what sort of hybrid love child the two will make. Gems also speed up time whether it’s landscaping, building or hatching.
DragonVale is an enjoyable experience using cute cartoon animations for the variety of dragons available. The game is free to download and with patience (or a bit of cash) you can fulfill your childhood dream of raising dragons right on your iDevice.
