The GIVIT Charity Portal App is an extension of GIVIT's free service to Community Service Providers across Australia (who are registered with GIVIT). The App will give all Australian social workers and people working directly with impoverished, marginalised and vulnerable individuals the ability to request and take items - to meet the immediate material needs of their clients. Case workers, and frontline services in Australia can request specific items, and access the “virtual warehouse” which is full of quality donations (pledged from the public) - straight from their mobile device while working in the field. They can also request items as needed. The free GIVIT Charity App is an innovative solution to issues faced by social workers using the GIVIT website. Most social workers have a mobile device and would be able to access the virtual warehouse when they are with the client and show them items available – pledged by donors from around Australia. Clients having choice of items has multiple benefits including: • ensures quality and quantity control • positively impacts the client as they have choice about items they receive as they can see item description and pictures This App can be utilised by charities and case workers on a day to day basis but is especially important following a large scale natural disaster where access to computers may not be possible. The GIVIT Charity App makes it even easier for charities, front line services, local government and authorities to request exactly what they need and obtain items from the GIVIT community and ensure those in need, receive exactly what they need when they need it most.
