An Apple support page was updated on Monday including a mention of a new mid-2014 Mac mini, suggesting that we could be seeing a refresh very soon. Yesterday’s update also mentions the 2014 MacBook Airs and the 2014 low-cost iMac, but left out the mid-2014 Retina MacBook Pros.
The Mac mini is long overdue for an update: the last one was in October 2012. It didn’t get the Haswell update like the rest of the mainstream Mac lineup. However we haven’t seen any suggestions of an update, so this could just be a simple error. Most updates are predicted in advance, due to signing spotting or analysts with supply chain contacts.
If Apple was to update the Mac mini, it’d likely get Haswell processors, 802.11ac WiFi and PCI Express-based flash storage options.
