There’s a difference between Apple and Google when it comes to hardware, but this comparison is in reference to the operating systems and how they work in relation to enterprise healthcare. Enterprise healthcare apps are usually owned or licensed by the facility, institution, or provider in order to manage healthcare data for their patients. Some analysts believe that those healthcare providers aren’t going to like Apple for three reasons. First up, the software vs hardware issue, then the consumer vs enterprise issue, and finally, the price.
Tim Cook says Google is Apple’s biggest competitor, even though the number-one handset is made by Samsung. Right now, Android is the largest and fastest growing mobile OS. In the United States alone, Android out-sells compared to iOS by more than two-to-one.
The second point, consumer vs enterprise, has to do with the fact that to date, Apple hasn’t really tried to do much for enterprise partnerships.
When it comes to the price issue, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are much more expensive than competitors, so not everyone will want one. This reduces the number of potential users.
