The cartoon graphics are stunning and gorgeously created, so when played on the iPad’s new retina interface the visuals really do leap out at you. It is well worth the download even just for aesthetic value! The game’s objective is to trek across the freezing ice conditions to rescue your family members who have been kidnapped. As you embark on your epic rescue mission, you are presented with gadgets and devices to help you along the way, like the fish-powered scuba diving suit or powerful torches for nocturnal expeditions. Mafia bosses and dangerous obstacles are just some of the hurdles that will pose a threat en route, but you are more than capable of executing and conquering them! The features for Captain Antarctica include HD graphics, two control options, six totally original and different environments, some big bad bosses, a ton of wild and crazy inventions, and the online Game Center where you can compare your own achievements against the world leader score board. Other whacky inventions include the fish magnet add-ons, tools for slicing and dicing fruit, and melon and cherry flavored powered jet suits. It doesn’t get more off the wall than that! The game features six levels but you have to complete each level twice to defeat the various bosses before you can progress and the game does get pretty challenging and harder as you move deeper into the abyss. Most of your enemies come in the form of one sea monster or another, which will throw things at you or try and gun you down, but the store in the game lets you use some of the coin you’ve earned or you can spend you own cash and do some virtual shopping.
