Guinness World Records 2014 app review: brush up on all the records
Introduction
Have you ever flipped through the Guinness World Records? It is literally insane the amount of categories and records there are. It feels like there is a record for everything under the sun. The Guinness World Records 2014 app can be accessed on your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone to read all the latest records. It should be noted though you will need to own the Guinness World Records 2014 book in order to use this app as it acts as a companion tool to the book.

Enhance the Reading Experience
This app is meant to be used in conjunction with your print copy of the Guinness World Records 2014 book and lets all these fabulous records jump off the screen at you by using 3D technology. This is a very engaging and entertaining way to enjoy the records. The app also offers free augmented reality, which again changes the way you read and learn about these different record holders. The way the app works is that you scan the book pages and then watch these records come alive before your eyes.

It has recently been updated just in time for the 2014 edition of the book. The speed is now better than before and the in-app purchases have been updated. Speaking of in-app purchases there are two available each priced at $0.99. The app has a three out of five star rating so it looks as though more updating and additional features/tools would be welcomed.

Using the App
There are a number of things this app makes possible starting with the cover of the book. Don't forget to scan it in order to get a sneak peak at the records. There are videos, interactive 3D animations, and virtual reality features throughout the book that you can enjoy. Some of these experiences include being able to see what it would look like if you were standing on top of Mount Everest, controlling a giant carnivorous dinosaur who can walk through all the pages, and even video clips of records.

I really like that this acts as a companion tool to the book. I think some people go into the app a bit confused thinking it is a stand-alone product and then feel disappointed. As long as you realize this is to be used in conjunction with the book then you are in for a treat.
