VeggieTales Appisode: 3 Builders app review: a lesson in making good choices

Reviews

Introduction

Based on the much-loved VeggieTales episode called The Little House That Stood, VeggieTales Appisode 3 is an interactive iPhone and iPad app which lets your child drive the story.

This particular episode's content covered a very important part of becoming a human being, as it covered making the right choices and learning important family values. An app like this could make a huge difference to imparting the fundamentals of being a good person into your impressionable little child.

This app is a little on the expensive side at $4.99, but I feel the costs are completely justified; let's find out why.

Plumzi's Appisodes

The developers, Plumzi, Inc. have a way unique way of turning TV episodes of the VeggieTales TV show episodes into what they have adorably christened “appisodes,” which essentially puts your child in the driver's seat as to how the show will progress.

The children will use touch, voice, swipes, and tilting your iOS device to navigate the characters through the story, making for very interactive gameplay and reinforcing learning and development through active participation rather than passive consumption.

In This Appisode

Through the course of this particular appisode, your child will meet Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber, who need to be guided to make the right choices. Children can talk to Bob using the microphone, reconstruct the dam to save CabbageVille from flooding, and make prints in the cement before it dries. These are only some of the interactive moments in the story.

To further increase the enjoyment of this game, the developers have added vast replay value by incorporating several kinds of activities, ensuring that every time your child uses this app, he or she receives a novel experience.

This app features robust parental controls allowing you to track and see over time your child's progress and success in each of the tasks, so you can see what your child's strengths are and which areas might need some work outside of this app.

Final Words

Although VeggieTales Appisode: 3 Builders is one iPhone and iPad app which is distinctly more expensive than others, I feel that it more than delivers because it imparts wisdom that adults might sometimes not even have, or know how to express and instill in their children. Highly recommended!
