Who Heads app review: a charades game for the whole family

Reviews

Introduction

It's time to bring family game night back with a hilarious option that everyone can take part in. The Who Heads app can be played on your iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone and will have you and all the players laughing. All you have to do is hold your device to your forehead and try to guess the word as your friends/family give you hints. There is no limit on the amount of players, which makes it perfect for huge gathering or just while hanging out with one other person.

Engaging and Addictive

The Who Heads app is an interactive style game that a limitless amount of people can take part in. There’s no reason to plop yourself on the couch staring blindly at the TV screen while no one in the room speaks. Here’s a chance to engage with your family and/or friends and share some great laughs. The game concept isn't new but it's one that holds up well and remains fun and popular with generations. Simply place your mobile device on your forehead with the screen facing out towards your friends. Next they will act out the hints so that you can try to guess the word.

The app is free to play but it is supported by ads and not all decks are unlocked. In-app purchases range in price from $1.99 to $2.99. The app unfortunately doesn't score high with users, getting just 2.5 out of five stars. Earlier this year it did feature an update where a bug was addressed, but that doesn't seem to have helped a whole lot. There is a real problem with pop-up ads with this game, there are just so many that it makes the game almost impossible to play.

Gameplay Features

Using Who Heads is pretty easy as there are only a few "game controls" to use. You tilt your device up in order to pass, hold the device up during the game, and tilt the device down when you get the correct answer. You will be able to keep track of your score so you can compare it to your friends and family and figure out who the best player is. The graphics are simple, there are really no added features or tools, and just as the users have stated, the app is completely filled with pop-up ads and at times I couldn’t even get past them and had to close the app. I find the game very slow and not very responsive, making for a disappointing experience.

Final Thoughts

The Who Heads app for your iPod touch, iPhone, and iPhone is meant to be a fun party game for the whole family but the app is clunky, slow, and frustrating to use.
