This is a very clever fitness app which enables you to accurate track your workouts by simply hitting a single button and letting your device’s integrated GPS functionality do the rest. With a whole host of additional content and features you’ll have everything you need to kickstart your fitness journey.
This is a great app for getting and staying motivated, and I’m very impressed with the way in which the developer has managed to piece together something that is just a little different and a little bit more special than many other fitness tracker apps within the same genre.
When you first start using this app you’ll be prompted to create a user account; however, you’ll be pleased to know that you can use your Facebook account to register with just a couple of taps, so this speeds up the process significantly.
The main home screen of Map My Fitness offers a comprehensive grid view of the various features, but if you want to jump straight into recording a workout then you can simply hit the Record button to get going.
From here, you’ll be prompted to enter your height and weight so that the app can more accurately calculate how many calories you are burning while exercising. This then brings you to the Workout menu which features even more useful options to customize your workout.
Get Fit AND Healthy
From this menu, you can choose from activities such as running , walking, cycling, swimming, and resistance exercises, as well as setting up automatic posting so that you can share your workouts with friends and family online via Facebook and Twitter.
What’s more, you can use the Log button to record your workouts retrospectively and use your device’s GPS to plan customized routes. I would also recommend checking out the Nutrition section, which I think could easily exist as a standalone app in and of itself.
In this section, you can input data such as the foods you eat, how much you weigh, and how much water you’re drinking. This is a great way of keeping a tangible reference of every aspect of your health and fitness while also being able to see measurable progress over a period of time.
