Introduction

If you’ve ever had to pick someone up from an airport, you probably know what a nightmare it can be arriving at the right time so that one of you doesn’t end up having to wait around for ages, so Just Landed™ for iPhone and iPad provides a fantastic solution to this little conundrum!

The best iPhone and iPad apps for tracking flights

This is definitely one of the more novel additions to the Travel category of the App Store that I’ve come across in recent months, and I have to say I absolutely love the amount of thought that has gone into its flight status app.

Airport Picks Made Easy

This is an absolutely fantastic idea for an app, making airport pickups easier than they’ve ever been by providing you with real-time inbound flight tracking so you know exactly when you need to leave home to arrive at the airport without having to wait around for ridiculous amounts of time.

Best iphone and ipad apps

One thing I really like about this app is that all of the journey time estimations factor in traffic conditions for complete accuracy. This only serves to further boost the efficacy of an already highly effective utility in my opinion.

Receive Real-Time Flight Status Updates

Just Landed™ also allows you to set up push notifications so that you can receive flight status updates in real time, and you can also contact the person you’re picking up from directly within the app, which is great should you find yourself delayed for whatever reason.

Estimations of journey times obviously use your device’s integrated GPS, so the developer has added a very clever form of location monitoring known as ‘geofencing’ to prevent your device’s battery from being drained excessively.

Cons

• This app has generally been well received; however, one user does bring up a couple of minor flaws that I hope will be improved upon in future versions: “Does what it does-- tracks a flight, updates you about flight status changes via push, gives you an estimated drive time (even updates the time as your location changes), and reminds you when it's time to leave.
  The only reason I give it 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is that it doesn't give you the option to track more than one flight (-1 star), and it doesn't provide flight number search functionality (-1).”

Final Words

Just Landed™ is definitely a job well done on the part of the developer, and I would definitely recommend keeping it handy on your iPhone and iPad if you frequently have to pick people up from the airport.
