If you must walk and surf the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, read your news, or other activity, then Walk and Web will be your new best friend. The application creates a transparent view of what’s directly in front of you so that you won’t trip as much. It’s easy to use, allows you to save bookmarks, and uses your camera to create the see through.

Quick links when you initiate the app include Yahoo, Google, Y Mail, Facebook, Gmail, Twitter, LinkedIn, CNN, and NY Times. I clicked on Facebook, logged in, and tried out the app. I only walked around the room, but in that time I had my son look at me for a screenshot.

See Shadows, Not Features

If you’re expecting to be able to see the most minute features of your surroundings, then Walk and Web isn’t the app you’re looking for. The app does have a transparent screen, but the focus is still on the website you’re viewing. True that this is the point of it, but you’re going to have trouble seeing your surroundings, which for me was more of a distraction than a help. The screen is similar to looking through a piece of white tissue paper, so you can see through a little, but not very much. It was easier for me to use my peripheral vision than to look at the device and walk.

That being said, the app is easy to use, allows you to add bookmarks for easy access, and lets you see through a little bit. You shouldn’t be walking and reading, but sometimes you’re going to. The app doesn’t support texts, but it does allow you to do anything on the internet you may need to do on the go. You can’t access your current bookmarks, but you can type in any website.

Final Thoughts

Walk and Web - for browsing web, Facebook, twitter and news while walking is an iPhone and iPad app that provides a transparent screen to view your feet while you`re walking. The screen is more like looking through white tissue paper than it`s like seeing your surroundings. I have yet to see a walk and do app that I like, as I would suggest inverting the screen for the walking. Dark becomes light, light becomes dark, and suddenly you can see better. You can do this in your iPhone settings if you are going on a walk and must be on your device.
