StockSwipe by Ace Green is a simple stock analysis iPad trading app designed to make life easier for the investor. The majority of stock analysis apps are overly complicated and not very user friendly – if you’re not an investment professional this can be quite frustrating leading many just to give up and move on. Most of these apps are also quite expensive as well. If you want a simplified alternative this app can definitely fill that role and it does a decent job. StockSwipe is a free app and it’s compatible with the iPad.

Simplified Stock Analysis

If you’ve tried using other stock analysis apps you’re probably well aware of how overwhelming they can be for the average investor – you need a degree in finance just to understand some of them! Having lots of tools is great, but if you don’t know how to use them they aren’t much good. StockSwipe by contrast has very few tools and provides you with simple flip charts with some basic information to make investment decisions easier. It’s refreshing to be able to get a quick understanding of how a stock’s performing in a format you can easily understand.

Unfortunately, this app does have some issues that are difficult to overlook. There are no instructions to get you started, and if you don’t know how to read stock charts it really doesn’t matter how simple they are. A quick tour would have been nice, or at least a FAQ page. The other problem I came across in this app was a glitch in the settings page. If you open this section to have a look around you won’t be able to exit out of it after you’re done – tapping on the done button doesn’t do anything. You have to exit the app completely and reopen it to be able to use it, which is definitely a little frustrating. StockSwipe app will require 5.3 MB of available space on your iOS device.

The Essentials

The main screen of the StockSwipe app features a simplified stock chart which maps out a stock’s performance over a one month period. On the right hand side is a value scale allowing you to quickly see where the stock’s value is at – it’s pretty straightforward and gives you a quick idea of whether the stock is trending up or down. When you want to move on to the next stock chart all you have to do is swipe left or right to bring up the next chart. The interface is quite simple and intuitive. You can also switch charts by tapping on the red and green chart icons at the bottom of the screen.

In the top right corner is an icon that allows you to access your Watchlist. You can save your favorite stocks here to keep a close eye on them. There’s also a settings icon on the top left-hand side, but there isn’t much here – just some sharing a review options.
