Report: iWatch will cost significantly more than competitors’ wearable devices

A report from Recode indicates that Apple execs have talked about charging $400 for the iWatch, which is 33 percent more expensive than Samsung’s most expensive model to date. In comparison, the Gear 2 by Samsung hosts $299.99, and the Moto will cost $249.99. The curved S watch was launched last week but no price was discussed. Samsung could be waiting to see how much the iWatch will cost before nailing down a price on the S watch.

The report went on to say that although the iWatch will be announced next week at the September 9th event, but won’t be available to buy until 2015. This will give developers time to come up with apps for the wearable device. Although the watch will likely run a version of the new iOS 8, developers will have to create unique apps for the smaller screen, watch tools, and processing power. It is likely that the watch will connect to the Internet using 3G wireless.

Speculation and rumors abound surrounding the iWatch, including the possibility that Siri voice controls will let users dictate messages, that the watch will be used as a remote control for other devices, and that it has a 1.5-inch screen and will use Bluetooth to connect to other devices.
