Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst from KGI Securities, says he thinks Apple will announce a brand-new iPad Air at the launch event next Tuesday, instead of waiting until October. This will be quite a jam-packed schedule, since it is expected that Apple will show off two new iPhone 6 models (a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch version) as well as a wearable device. It doesn’t seem likely that Apple would also announce an iPad, but he’s been right with many predictions before.
According to Kuo, when it comes to features, the iPad Air will have Touch ID like the iPhone 5S, will come with an anti-reflective screen coating, a fully laminated touch panel, a more powerful A8 processor, and a new gold casing. In other words, there won’t be any real major differences other than the addition of the Touch ID sensor. The gold iPad Air, if actually available, will probably sell quickly at first, like with the gold iPhone, and then sales will taper off and the other color(s) will be the major sellers. There’s a small group of people who prefer the gold devices but they are the minority who tend to buy new devices as they come out.
