Apple has said it has received a record number of first-day pre-orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Four million people pre-ordered the newest iPhones and that means many of them will have to wait until October to get them, although some will get them starting Friday. In Canada, Bell, Rogers, Virgin Mobile, Telus, and Fido have begun accepting pre-orders. Bell says that is “experiencing very strong demand and cannot guarantee your delivery for September 19th” and goes on to say delivery could take up to four weeks. These Canadian carriers are offering the iPhone 6 16 GB model for $265, the 64 GB for $375, and the 128 GB model for $484, all with a two-year contract. Without a contract they are $749, $859, and $969 respectively.
The larger iPhone 6 Plus is going for $375 for the 16 GB model, the 64 GB model is $485, and the 128 GB model is $594 with a two-year plan. Off-contract they are $859, $969, and $1,079 respectively.
In 2012 when the iPhone 5 came out, the first-day pre-order sales hit the two million mark. The iPhone 5 had a larger screen than previous versions and there was a lot of demand, much like there is now for the newest versions.
