Apple announces record-breaking revenues

Apple’s Tim Cook said last week that the new iPhones meant a huge increase in revenues. The company will soon announce a record-breaking $180 billion in revenues so far this year up until September. Apple will post its full year results tomorrow, and Wall Street analysts are guessing that Apple has so far sold 38 million iPhones in the three months leading up until September, which is a 12 percent increase sold in the same time frame last year. Revenues for this quarter will likely hit $40 billion, which will make the total for the year $181 billion. This is up from $171 billion last year and $65 billion in 2010.

During the first weekend the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were on sale, people bought 10 million handsets. This will greatly impact the company’s revenues. At the media event on Thursday, the CEO said “These iPhones have become the fastest-selling iPhones in history. And the first 30 days we have set a new high-water mark for the most orders taken. And I don’t mean by a little. By a lot, a whole lot.”
