Thinner iPad, Retina iMacs, new OS X

The new iPad will have a better camera, faster processor, and will be thinner than ever in Apple’s attempt to boost sales for tablets after two quarters of slowed demand. The iPad Air 2 is only a quarter of an inch thick and has a lot of the features seen in iPhones, like burst photography, Touch ID, and slow-motion video.

The new OS X, Yosemite, was available for download on Thursday, just like the new 27-inch iMac was available for sale. It has Retina graphics and Apple is calling it the “Retina 5K.” A lot of the discussion on Thursday revolved around how Apple products work so well together because Apple makes both software and hardware. The starting price for the new iMac is $2,499 for the 27-inch model and the standard models start at $1,799 for the 27-inch model and $1,099 for the 21.5-inch version. Users will be able to place calls from their computers, done through a nearby iPhone.
