When will Photos for Yosemite launch?

When OS X Yosemite was launched, Apple announced a brand-new Photos app that was supposed to go along with it but it hasn’t been released yet. The app is supposed to be like the one for iOS, which will keep all of our photos in one place and will allow users to make simple edits. The problem is that it wasn’t released when Yosemite was, and Apple hasn’t announced a release date. Federighi, who announced it at WWDC 2014, said it would be “early next year” so we can probably expect it before the end of March 2015.

When we do get it, it will be available for download from the App Store. It will replace iPhoto, and will be integrated with iCloud. iCloud Photo Library is in Beta form right now on iOS devices and there’s no way to access it on Mac OS X.  The app will have the same Years, Collections, and Moments view options.
