Apple was unable to get the music labels to agree to the proposed deal for its music service, according to a report by Fortune. Even with Apple’s proposed $2 reduced fee compared to Spotify and Pandora, they didn’t bite. The issue is that Apple is too late coming to the scene. It’s the one time where Apple didn’t get ahead of the trend; with rented or free (with ads) music, the tech company missed out. Apparently, Apple has a second option.
Trent Reznor is redesigning the Beats app and Jimmy Iovine is working the labels. Jimmy reports to Eddy Cue, and has been having talks with certain people to lock in prominent album releases that will be Apple exclusives. One person said the new iTunes will be like “Spotify with Jimmy juice.”
