FuzeBox has managed to compress its online experience into an
iPhone App, entitled Fuze Join.
This isn't the first iOS app FuzeBox has done - they previously made an iPad app, and they were applauded by Apple, who considered the app one of the best business apps back in 2011. They also had an iPhone app but the CEO (Jeff Cavins) felt it wasn't good enough, so they took that application down, and began working on a better one.
So, what's changed? Techcrunch.com says you can now broadcast and view video, a huge part of their service that was previously lacking in the first iPhone app. The interface has also been simplified down to five buttons.
The app is certainly fast and responsive, even on cellular networks - you can watch high-quality streaming video on 3G and it didn't lag at all - what you saw was the same as been showed on the other computers in the conference.
There are some limitations - you can only watch four video streams at once. Any more is too taxing for the iPhone, particularly the earlier models. Also, more than four videos at once on a 3.5" screen? No thanks. The FuzeBox meetings don't have such a limit, so if you are in a larger conference, other members are represented by still images at the bottom of the screen and you can switch streams depending on importance. You can get Fuze Join at the
iTunes store.
