By the end of 2015, almost every major car maker in North America will start offering Android Auto or CarPlay in new models. Either of these systems will transform a dashboard of a car or truck into a smartphone, essentially. According to a report by CBC, GM made an announcement yesterday saying that both the Google and Apple systems will be available in seven of its 2016 Chevrolet models, which will be available for purchase starting in the summer. The Apple system on its own will show up in seven more Chevy models. Earlier this week, Hyundai announced that the Android Auto will be in the Sonata.
According to the president of Creative Strategies, people want what is familiar to them. They don’t want to learn new car-based systems when they already know one that also holds their content.
