Sprint launches own early upgrade program

If you’re on Sprint, you’ll be able to upgrade your devices early with the Company's new phone upgrade program. It’s arrived just in time for the arrival for the 5S and 5C. Cnet has reported the program, titled "Sprint One Up" will be launched on September 20th, the same day as the iPhone 5S and 5C.

Sprint One Up lets customers get a new phone without having to pay an up-front price. Instead, a $650 device would be paid off at $27 a month for 24 months. If you want to upgrade early then you just pay off the device balance. It’ll also give a discount on the wireless plan so isn’t as much of a pricey option as AT&T and Verizon’s offerings.

Existing customers can upgrade early; they can trade in the phone they bought last year for a new device but they have to trade in their existing phone. This is only for contract customers though, not prepaid.

Sprint is the last major U.S. network to announce an early upgrade program. It’ll compete with Jump (T-Mobile), Next (AT&T), and Edge (Verizon). T-Mobile started the trend just a few months ago and the other carriers have quickly adopted similar policies.
