Introduction

The FUNHOUSE OF HORRORS Comic Book app isn't your ordinary comic book; this one will leave you scared and shaken! This is an on-going series of terror that dishes out zombies, ghosts, and the scariest of all: evil clowns! Who isn't afraid of clowns? This graphic series is filled with fear, violence, and horror which is why it's rated for kids nine and up.

Let the Story Begin

Begin the series with "The House of Horrors" and be able to move from there. In the first book you will be following Jacob Stone who is enjoying a family picnic until he finds an old abandoned house buried deep in the woods. The house is actually being made into a one night-only haunted house adventure for people to enjoy for Halloween. One of the workers gives Jacob a mysterious book of ghost stories that has two tickets tucked away inside. And this is where the horrors begin.

I have to say when it comes to comics I'm a fan but anything in the horror genre has me running for the hills and this one was no different. The illustrations are incredible and extremely frightening. Just the cover alone is enough to hook those who enjoy this genre.

Of course the content/storyline is scary and also does a great job of drawing you in, being scared and caring about Jacob, and wanting to read further.

The User Experience

Content and illustrations aside there is the user experience to discuss as well. To advance the page all you need to do is swipe the screen. The app is incredibly intuitive and just the lightest swipe will advance the story. At any point you can tap on the screen to view how far along you are in the comic. Close the app and it will remember where you left off.

There really aren’t any extra features here. It would be great to have the ability to share a page or a snippet of the story with friends and family on social networks. As well you aren’t able to zoom in on pages, which is a negative.

At the end of the story there is also a song you can listen to, which to me really didn’t add anything to the app at all. I’d rather see a couple of extra tools or features.

Overall the FUNHOUSE OF HORRORS Comic Book app is a fun read that offers up some mystery, horror, and a whole lot of great illustrations. It would be nice to see some tools and features added to upcoming updates just to make this app feel a bit more current.
