The Journey of Christopher Columbus HD – Children’s Story Book Price: $2.99 For: iPad The Journey of Christopher Columbus HD app by PlayTales (formerly known as Touchybooks) is a fantastic app for the iPad. This great kid’s story book will teach your child how the world was changed when the man we call Christopher Columbus headed for the Indies but ended up somewhere else. Your child will have a grand time learning about the discovery of the Americas in three mini-games. Kids will have fun while learning important history facts and interesting trivia, like how his journey pretty much proved that the earth was round and not flat. The 20 pages of the story each contain interactive mysteries, curious sounds, and beautiful images. The three mini games at the end let your child build the Santa Maria, identify images that don’t belong, and help Columbus to load the ship. Other features of the app include optional text narration for young kids or beginner readers, interactive surprises,original music, option to choose “Read Myself” or “Read it to Me,” and enchanting sound effects. The app is suitable for readers over the age of six, but can be used by kids under that age if they choose the “Read it to Me” option. There are more than 20 pages of color graphics in this app from PlayTales. The app was released on October 13, 2011, and is available in English, German, and Spanish. It’s rated 4+. There are not enough customer ratings for the iTunes store to show an average, but our experience with this app was fabulous. It’s definitely worth the money if you want your child to have fun while learning about the discovery of the Americas!
