Today is Young Readers Day! Let’s celebrate with an app that helps little kids learn to read.
For the most part, kids learn while they play. That play may consist of word games, letter games, and other games that teach simple concepts when it comes to reading. The trick is to have them play a game that is simple enough for a new reader to understand, yet challenging enough for slightly more advanced readers to follow along.
The problem with finding suitable apps for kids learning to read is finding them ones that are interesting to them to help them learn, yet interesting enough to keep their interest. It’s a fine line, because some apps are too studious and lose kids’ interest immediately, while others are too play-like and don’t actually teach anything. This app perfectly balances the amount of play and learning to help teach your kid the alphabet and word concepts.
In Mouse Alphabet, kids too young to read and kids just learning to read follow along with the adventures of Charlie McMouster. Charlie is searching for all of his missing toys. Your kid’s job is to sort his or her way through the letters, shapes, and objects in McMouster’s amazing world to help find those toys.
As our hero finds his toys, your child sees the letters, words, and also hears the pronunciation as is proper. Progressively difficult levels teach your child more difficult levels and allows kids to move at their own pace.
Readers of different levels interact with the game in different ways. New readers or pre-readers touch, hear, and see the letters. More advanced readers learn how combinations of letters work together to make different sounds.
Mouse Alphabet does not currently have enough ratings for iTunes to display an average. The only feedback comment is positive.
