In the story, the protagonist – a young penguin – is searching for something exciting to do in the South Pole. Follow along with him on his journey as he searches for some fun. The book is recommended for kids aged four to eight. Features of the book include background audio, professional narration, and fun, over-sized artwork. You can read the book in three ways: Read to Me, Read it Myself, and Auto Play. In Read to Me and Auto Play, the words are highlighted as they are read. Auto Play reads the story and turns the pages automatically. When you or your child touches a word, it zooms up larger. This app will help with picture and word association as well as word recognition. It’s a great app for the iPad as the over-sized graphics are best displayed on the larger screen. It is optimized for Retina displays.
The custom audio is different for each scene so it doesn’t become tedious, even when you have to read the book over and over when it becomes a favored story. Nothing Ever Happens at the South Pole was updated to Version 1.09.1 on August 31, 2012. The update made minor bug fixes and improvements. It’s available in English only. The app does not have enough customer ratings for iTunes to display an average, but the one customer feedback comment is very positive, with a five-star rating.
