The app uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to transfer the information from scanned business cards to your contact list on your iOS device. You’ll no longer have to put contacts’ info in by hand when you have this app! It also syncs with Google Contacts. All you have to do is launch the app, put the business card so it’s positioned within the blue lines, and tap the camera button. If your hand is shaking, the app won’t work; it will wait until your hand is very still. You can scan several business cards at once by tapping the bottom-right button; otherwise, the app will assume you want to scan one card. After the card is scanned, tap “Recognize” to start the process of the OCR. Tap each field that is shown and you can correct individual fields that need editing. If the app accidentally mistakes the person’s business name for his or her name (if the font for the business is larger than the person’s name, this may happen), you can correct it manually. The app is very accurate when it comes to fax and phone numbers. If the business card is two-sided, the app gives you the option to scan the back, too. In the event that you don’t have an actual business card to scan, but have a photo of that business card, you can import the photo from your photo album into the app. WorldCard Mobile also has a QR code scanner.
