WWDC app review: make the most of the WWDC

Reviews

WWDC

Price: Free

WWDC by Apple is an app that will let you follow along with the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, even if you can’t be there.

There are special sections that only registered developers can see, like the Maps section, for now. The videos, once they are uploaded, will also be available only to developers.

You’ll be able to mark the schedule with favorites, keep up with the latest news, browse the info for sessions and special events, and watch video sessions daily. You’ll be able to provide feedback on speakers and session content, add your info to Passbook for faster on-side registration, and get important notifications.

When you log in, you’ll be asked for your Apple ID and password as a developer. This will gain you access to all the areas.

WWDC has 144 customer ratings with an average of five out of five stars.  Feedback comments are all positive, with users really glad that the app will keep developers unable to attend the WWDC this year stay abreast of the speeches and events.

Not being a developer I can’t really comment much on this app. From what I could see with basic access, the app looks really streamlined, with basic colors and simplistic design. Many are saying this is a taste of the iOS 7 design. Only time will tell.

Pros

  • Simple, streamlined design
  • Lets developers stay on top of events, even if they're not present

Cons

  • Only developers get full access

For: iPhone, iPod touch, iPad with iOS 6.1 or later
