Encyclopædia Britannica for iPad app review

Reviews

Encyclopædia Britannica

Price: Free

Encyclopædia Britannica by Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc is a reference app providing users with the world's most trusted reference source in the world.

Users have access to the complete Encyclopædia Britannica, enhanced for the iPad. Students or anyone who values knowledge will absolutely love this app. You have search and browse capabilities, and with over 80,000 articles to read though, you will be glad you do. All articles are expertly written and thoroughly fact-checked. Over the years there have been over 100 Nobel Laureates who have contributed their time and knowledge, as well as some subject matter experts like Tony Hawk, Bill Clinton, and Desmond Tutu.

Encyclopædia Britannica was updated to Version 1.2 on April 11, 2012. It has a total of 310 customer ratings with an average of 3.5 out of five stars. Feedback is average with users disappointed by the free content provided through this app. Users feel Wikipedia still offers more information for free; however, those who are willing to pay the $1.99 monthly fee, are amazed with the amount of detail provided through this app.

As other users had mentioned I am slightly disappointed with the lack of free content, but then again I was surprised to see this app even offering free content. If you subscribe to this app you can do so with complete and utter confidence that you are getting one of the most in-depth, accurate, and most respected encyclopedias in the world.

For: iPhone, iPod touch, iPad with iOS 4.3 or later
