iCarConnect by Andrea Brunello is a commuter’s dream come true, with a great selection of tools in one app. iCarConnect includes features like a music player, YouTube, Internet browsing, web radio, and loads more to make navigation easier and more entertaining while you drive. It was updated to version 2.4 in early-June of 2013.

User Experience

Many features in this app are designed so as to be easy to use while you’re driving, making texting friends and using online features much safer and more convenient.

Because of this, many of the icons and keys are presented in an extra large format so you can easily tap them without having to take your eyes off of the road for too long. iCarConnect uses a very generic visual interface which, while not the prettiest thing ever to grace your iPhone, does definitely serve its purpose of being easy to use.
 

Features

This app enables you to customize the background with several different designs that are available via in-app purchase. You can also view information such as the outside temperature and the time and date, as well as having one-touch access to your top three SMS contacts, your music library, and a torch, enabling you to easily access these tools without taking your attention from the road.

YouTube integration allows you to stream videos wherever you are, perfect for entertaining the kids on long car rides. You can also quickly and easily share your favorite videos with friends and family via Facebook and Twitter.

The maps in iCarConnect are also incredibly detailed with map, satellite, and hybrid views available.

Update Info

iCarConnect is currently running on Version 2.4.

The latest update included a few minor bug fixes as well as some improvements to the weather service. You can also now listen to the web radio while the app is running in the background.

Finally, an app that covers it all! Leaving this app to sit in landscape mode while you drive essentially means you have at your fingertips an all-in-one media and navigation centre for your car that is specifically designed for safe use while driving. I have to caution, however, that texting while driving is never safe and you should pull over or wait until you reach your destination to do so.

I would like to see more backgrounds available for free; however, leaving the visual elements plain is probably a good idea because it makes the app a lot clearer to see, which is exactly what you need while driving.
