Norwegian iConcierge app review: your personal cruise director

Introduction

Norwegian iConcierge by Norwegian Cruise Line® is a travel app that provides you with information regarding the cruise line in order to make your trip that much better. You'll be able to use the app to book shore excursions, check out what is happening on-board the ship, and even stay in contact with your friends. The app was updated on Apr. 26, 2013 and is available in English.

User Experience

Think of this app as your companion tool when you set sail with the cruise line. Not only can it make the cruise more enjoyable but it also makes your trip more organized and convenient since you can do so many tasks from within the app. Upon launching it you’ll have a large menu of choices which makes for smooth navigation of the app. You can even start to use it before leaving thanks to the Cruise Countdown. When you get onboard the ship you’ll want to register the app so it will automatically connect with all the information onboard. WiFi onboard the ship is free, giving you plenty of opportunities to make use of this tool.

Features

The app is absolutely loaded with great and handy features for making your trip that much better. Think of this app as a three-stage approach that begins with the countdown to your cruise that you use before embarking, get connected once onboard with free WiFi, and then register.

Use the app to view and book information about ports and tours, dining options, entertainment, spa, view your cruise rewards, bars and lounges, onboard shopping, onboard services, and a list of what’s going on. You also get phone and messenger services. The phone lets you call your friends and family back home but keep in mind there is a per-minute fee during the cruise. The messenger feature lets you chat with other guests throughout the cruise, which is perfect when meeting up as a group or discussing the day's upcoming activities/plan.

There is a one-time nominal fee for the messenger service.

Please note that this app only works on the newer ships.

I thought this was a wonderful way to enhance your trip and make sure you enjoyed all there was to offer. You could read up on shore excursions, spa services, dining options, upcoming activities onboard and discover all kinds of things you want to take part in.
