Official Comic-Con app review: never get lost, never surrender!

Introduction

For a while now, Comic-Con has released its own app designed for visitors of this huge comic convention. The app has vastly improved since the last version, and the developer, Elemental Bits LLC has optimized and reorganized it in a way that is easy to use and quick to access. With both iPad and iPhone support, I can’t see anyone going to the convention without using this app.

 

Comic-Con, The Final Frontier

The Official Comic-Con App has everything needed for successful convention survival. It includes maps from all the different convention halls, lists of special guests and where they are, all exhibitors, a complete show overview on where and when different activities take place, even split up by genre of activity. You can favorite these so you can easily remember what to do next. Each special guest has a bio written in the app, which is handy to have and read while you’re in line for an autograph or some swag.
 

These are not the stars I’m looking for

One of the downsides of the app is that the maps are not integrated properly with all the information available. The app would be made so much more accessible if I could locate a booth or a star in the map by just selecting it in the app. The same goes for all the different programs. As the convention is so big, sometimes you will be running up and down just to make sure you don’t miss out on your favorite celebrity. The information in the app will be updated at all times, so might anything be canceled or moved, the app will be updated to reflect that. You can’t however set a notification for this.

Set phasers to fun!

This app is all a Comic-Con visitor needs in regards to maps and information. No more lugging around booklets and printed out schedules. This app has it all.

Hopefully they will work on full map integration for the next convention, as it will make the app even better.
