@Thermometer app review: view the temperature for your current location in a range of stylish formats

Reviews

Introduction

This is a simple enough app which is designed to provide you with the current temperature in your location, lavishly presented in a variety of visual formats to not only deliver an up-to-date indication of the weather, but to do it in style!

I’ve used a fair few thermometer and temperature apps and I have to say that there are some pretty poor releases out there. Fortunately, @Thermometer seems to be very well-developed and the various visual themes definitely make this a more user-friendly app that I think a lot of people will prefer over equivalent thermometer apps.

Feelin' Hot Hot Hot!

I’ve been pretty appalled by similar apps in the past but I’ve been pretty happy with @Thermometer so far.

There are four basic visual themes to choose from which are London 2012, Christmas, Football, and Classic. Each of these themes contains sub-themes to offer even more variety, and all of the backgrounds feature wonderful high-resolution images with some gorgeous color schemes.

Other features include the ability to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit as your preferred unit of temperature and the choice to either use Location Services to determine your current location or search for the temperature for any other locations around the world.

Features

The ads in this app can be rather intrusive from time to time but you can upgrade to the ad-free version via in-app purchase if you wish.

When all is said and done, this is a very simple app which is designed to fulfill an even simpler purpose, so I didn’t install it expecting too much.

Despite my low expectations, @Thermometer delivers on all fronts and seems to run smoothly and efficiently, so I would certainly recommend it to any of you who might be looking for a basic temperature app.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Quickly view the temperature for your current location
  • Loads of lavishly designed visual themes to keep things interesting
  • View the temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit

Cons

  • No social media integration

Final Words

I think a great addition to @Thermometer would be the ability to share screenshots online via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. This would definitely add a nice social aspect to the app and could potentially provide a significant boost to its popularity.

All in all, I have no complaints with how this app operates as it runs in a smooth and streamlined fashion and it looks good. It offers varying degrees of customization options which I think really set it apart from some other thermometer apps which feature a basic user interface and no options for personalizing the layout.

This isn’t the most groundbreaking app in the App Store but it is well worth taking for a test spin, so be sure to check out @Thermometer if you’re on the lookout for a basic app for checking up on the current temperature from time to time.

At the very least, you’ll love the layout design, I promise!
