Some people just hate editing photos. Yes, there’s Instagram and Flickr and all those shiny new filtering software, but the basic process—uploading, cropping, resizing, and the like—still remain the same: go work on one, then move on to the other, and so on and so forth. See how many people get discouraged from being amateur photographers because of this?

Thankfully, someone answered our long-dormant prayers. Released earlier this year, Mac’s BatchPhoto offers one thing which so many photo editing software do not:  it practically allows you to edit photos by group. By defining your very own presets—along with the filters, effects, and other visual whiz-bangs coming along with it—you can literally edit dozens of photos with a single command.

BatchPhoto may not be doing anything new, but at least it recognizes the need for better time management. It may not be the ideal photo app for the OC-Instagrammy types of people who prefer to pore on every shot, but its workmanlike-style of editing would be a good fit for anyone who just wants to get the whole thing over and done with.
