Introduction

According to the developer, one in seven car accidents happen in car parks, so this game has been designed to raise your awareness of the hazards of driving with 10 different levels that are full of various challenges and obstacles to keep you on your toes, so to speak, when you’re in the driver’s seat.

While I can appreciate the intentions behind this app, it’s not the most engaging game I’ve ever come across and there are only 10 levels which means that the replay value isn’t particularly high.

If you have a friend, relative, or spouse who you feel is somewhat of an irresponsible driver then I can certainly see it being a good idea to show them this app and see what they have to say for themselves. Other than that, I don’t see there being much to be had from NRMA Insurance Car Park Challenge.

From here, you can then select which car you’d like to take for a spin before starting your first car park challenge. The control system is devilishly simple, requiring you to simply accelerate, brake, reverse, and steer left and right.

You have to follow the arrows through each level while avoiding obstacles such as barriers and other vehicles. Hitting these will result in costs being incurred according to actual data from real crashes which is used to estimate the damage within each level.

 

Watch Out for Those Hazards

The aim of each level is to park your car safely and with the correct orientation, and arrows will help you to know whether you’re okay to drive straight into a parking space or if the particular level requires that you reverse into it.

This is a very simple game but that doesn’t mean that it’s super easy. There is a countdown timer on each level and if you run out of time or accrue too much damage to your vehicle then it’ll be game over, I’m afraid.

You need to earn at least a bronze award on each level to progress to the next one, so make sure you’re on your best behavior. Check your hazards, check your mirrors twice, and pull away slowly to make sure you don’t end up having a run-in with your insurance company!

Final Words

It’s so important not to be complacent when you’re out on the road and I think that the developer has done a great job of making sure that NRMA Insurance Car Park Challenge raises greater awareness of just how dangerous driving can be, even within a car park.

This isn’t the most fun game in the world but it certainly does carry with it an important message.
