USBMate App Review

Reviews

USBMate App ReviewUSBMate Price: $4.99 For: OS X 10.6 or later USBMate is designed to optimize all USB flash devices that you use by deleting many of the unwanted files left by Windows, Lion, or Snow Leopard using the anti-virus software in built into the app. Just launch the app before you eject your device and USBMate will go to work swiftly checking and purging the device so it remains secure and clean for when you use it on your Mac. Released May 29th, 2012, there are still too few comments to judge how this app is performing. AutoRun, which is an annoying feature of Windows that is susceptible to picking up the odd virus, is not really problem to Mac users so the fact that the app addresses this is not that much of an issue. When it runs the anti-virus software before you eject it deletes the .DS_Store file stores which stores your folder view settings. These are automatically re-created when the device is inserted, plus the same goes for the Spotlight files and the thumbs.db on Windows – all these take some time to re-index so the point of erasing them to have them recreated serves no purpose. It also doesn’t address the problem of “jitter." Take, for example, digital audio where the digital transmission of signals rely on a clock – the fact it doesn’t deal with this may put some user’s off. USBMate App Review There do seem to be a vast market of apps which do the general maintenance sweeps and dump unnecessary caches, rogue logs, and other files. So far whether this flash device cleaner warrants the $4.99 may be a little hard to determine. There is still not enough data to really get a feel for how it’s doing just yet, so be sure to check the latest comments from users who have purchased USBMate.
