Rhythm Sight Reading Trainer app review: improve your sight reading with immediate feedback of timing accuracy

Reviews

Introduction

Whether you’re just starting out or you’re a professional musician looking to hone your craft, this awesome iPhone and iPad app contains a wide range of tools that you can use to improve your sight reading across a variety of different time signatures and tempos.

The best iPhone learning to read apps for kids

This is a fantastic idea for an app, and I’m particularly keen on the way in which the developer has kind of “gamified” the concept of sight reading by providing a score as immediate real-time feedback for users’ performance.

As a musician, I can definitely vouch for the quality of this development. I only wish I had taken the time earlier on in my musical career to actually learn how to read notation because using this app has been a very humbling experience indeed!

Improve Your Sight Reading Skills

Rhythm Sight Reading Trainer enables you to improve your sight reading in a variety of different time signatures, ranging from two to nine beats per bar. You can, of course, adjust the tempo as well, so be sure to start slow and work your way up over time.

The visual display in both Practice Mode and Test Mode is wonderfully clear, with beats and downbeats clearly emphasized, and note groupings nicely delineated to make for easier reading.

Your accuracy rate is displayed on the screen in a real-time format, providing immediate and ongoing feedback for you as the piece of music progresses so that you can track your progress and see how you’re improving over time.

Track Your Improvements Over Time

All of your accuracy scores are recorded within the app as well, so you’ll have a long-term record that you can use to watch yourself improve, but make sure you’re consistent and diligent with your practices if you really want to see continued improvements .
