Ubooly Talks! Learning Companion for Kids app review: an educational app for toddlers
Introduction
Technology is moving forward so fast that other fields of products can’t stay behind. We see more and more technology being incorporated in all kinds of different object and it seems that no kind of product is ignoring this jump in technology completely. For example, we now have clothes that incorporate technology, such as shoes that have speedometers built-in. Of course, kids’ toys can’t stay behind, and while there were talking toys when I grew up, technology has now made a new step. Ubooly Inc. has actually created a plush toy that works together with your iPad mini or iPhone to create an interactive learning companion called Ubooly. As I didn’t have access to the actual plush toy, this review is simply about the app, which is compatible with both iPad and iPhone. The app is available for free, but holds a lot of in app purchases.

How the App Works
Ubooly is a completely new kind of experience. It's best compared to the Furbies, but actually educational and completely customizable. You can give Ubooly all kinds of different faces, changing the color. In the app, you will actually see the whole of Ubooly, while when you slide your device into the actual plush toy, you will only see Ubooly’s face. Ubooly will remember your kid's name and birthday and will have the same hobbies and interests as your child. Ubooly will pay games with your child and your kid will not even know he is learning at the same time.

In-App Purchases
The app itself is rather bare to begin with. You will need to spend money to make the app actually worthwhile. If you have bought an Ubooly plush for one of your children, you will probably don’t want to spend any extra money on the app, but I can imagine that with the toy you will at least get a redeem code for some content. Each content pack costs $2.99 and focuses on just one thing. You can choose (and I can recommend this) to unlock all the packs in one go. This will cost $29.99, but at least everything in the toy will be accessible for your child.

Conclusion
If I had children, I would definitely invest in this app. In combination with the toy, this app is probably the best educational toy ever created. Altogether, you will have to make quite a big investment, as the plush toy itself will cost over $40.00 and the in app purchases can all be unlocked for $29.99. The app is compatible with both iPad and iPhone, though the toy is only designed for iPhone and iPad mini. The app is just under 55 MB. Parents, your child needs this!
