Introduction

Habit Builder - Positive Habits is an iPhone and iPad app that will help you to develop and create good habits such as going to the gym, drinking more water, or walking the dog. All you have to do is set your goal and watch it happen.

Set Reminders

I am trying to build several good habits, and get rid of a few bad ones, so I set Habit Builder to remind me to check off if I was successful for the day. I set it for a Coke-free day, soda-free day, whether or not I’d done my exercise routine, and so on. You can set the habits to remind you at any time through the day, and whether or not you do it daily or on certain days. For example, I only exercise every other day, so I have it remind me at the time of my exercise routine and then just check it off.

What I like about this app is that it gives you a grade of sorts. Check off the successful habit enough times, and you will get a 100% completion, but if you don’t check it off, then you won’t. If, for example, you are not remembering to check off the item, just go back and check it off on previous days, but if you’re actually not doing it, don’t cheat!

Building Habits Only Takes 21 Days

If starting a new habit only takes 21 days, then Habit Builder can help you to get off to a good start. What I like about this app, is that it sends you notifications to help you remember. I am trying to get back on track with my food intolerances, so I added those in too. If I have an intolerance-free day, then I check off the box. This helps me to eat better for my body, and therefore be more healthy in this respect too.

As far as the exercise goes, on the days that I am not scheduled to exercise, the app says rest day. This is perfect because it means that the app won’t penalize me for not exercising when it’s not an exercise day! I do go for daily walks, but it’s the weight lifting that I need to get back into the habit of.

Final Thoughts

Habit Builder - Positive Habits is an iPhone and iPad app that will help you build good habits, and break bad ones over the course of 21 days. I set the app to help me track whether or not I was successful in avoiding my food intolerances for getting my diet and health back on track, as well as drinking more water, and getting back to my weight lifting. I am liking how easy it is to use, and will be recommending it to friends in the future.
