The Whakan app by Forever Young Studio is a mix of RPG and card battle for your iOS device.

Whakan takess turn based card battle elements and mixes in basic RPG elements. In the app, instead of cards you get Spheres, which your character will collect and use to beat down your enemies.

When you launch, you’ll learn the backstory: your world of Whakan is threatened by a plague, and you’ve been tasked by your God-Elemental Ancestor to become a Keeper of the Spheres. You’ll have to go on a journey to discover the magical Spheres.

There are 200 Spheres for you to collect among five elements, and you have five regions to cover Mineral, Vegetal, Ice, Air, and a mystery continent.

You’ll enjoy unique gameplay with this app, where with each battle you enter into puts you against an enemy in turn-based style.

The app has amazing graphics, and regular updates. There are several in-app purchases you can make, ranging from $0.99 to $39.99. You do not have to make any purchases to play.

The app was updated to Version 1.1 on October 12, 2012. The update added two new fighting modes Champion Mode and Survival Mode. Whakan has a total of 53 ratings, with 14 of them being for the latest update. The average rating is 4.5 out of five stars. Feedback comments are positive.

I find the blend of battle card and RPG really interesting. Anyone who loves these types of games will find it interesting and worth downloading.
